South Australian Aboriginal Tourism Operators Council (SAATOC)
The South Australian Aboriginal Tourism Operators Council (SAATOC), a professional tourism association specifically for First Nations-owned tourism businesses was formed in September 2023.
SAATOC will be modelled on the successful Western Australia Indigenous Tourism Operators Council, helping drive the development of authentic First Nations tourism offerings across South Australia.
The new body will provide greater support and opportunities to tourism operators, to help grow First Nations tourism and First Nations-led economic development within the state.
Funding was provided by the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) via the Tourism Industry Council SA (TiCSA), which is continuing to facilitate the establishment of SAATOC, including working with the interim Board to finalise a draft constitution, develop appropriate governance policies and procedures, and establish membership.
