The Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF) applauds the Government’s announcement of the $12.5 million NSW Take Off Fund, a new initiative designed to secure additional airline services and further strengthen the state’s aviation market.
The new program is calling for the aviation industry to apply for grants, and follows the Western Sydney Take Off Fund announced earlier this year. This signals the continued commitment to backing airline growth and supporting the broader visitor economy.
The NSW Take Off Fund will provide targeted financial support for airlines launching new or expanded services into the state, helping deliver the additional seats required to meet the goals of the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035, including $91 billion in visitor expenditure and 8.5 million extra airline seats.
NSW’s major gateways, Sydney, Western Sydney and Newcastle, are already experiencing momentum with new international routes and capacity growth, and this incentive will help secure further expansion, bringing more choice for travellers and more opportunities for regional and metropolitan economies alike.
TTF CEO Margy Osmond said, “New South Wales aviation continues to build real momentum, backed by Sydney Airport’s strong performance, Newcastle Airport’s expansion and the countdown to Western Sydney International opening next year.
“Government support like this gives the industry a platform to thrive in what has become one of the most competitive travel markets worldwide.”
