Policy & Research Assistant (Entry/Graduate Role)

We have an exciting opportunity for a recent arts, political science, tourism, economics or communications, graduate to join us full-time at the peak, national advocacy group for Australia’s tourism, transport and aviation sectors, based in Sydney. About The Tourism & Transport ForumThe Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF) Australia, is the peak industry group for the tourism, transport and aviation sectors in Australia. A national, member-funded CEO forum, TTF advocates for the public policy interests of the leading corporations and institutions in these sectors. TTF has six member pillars that we directly represent: Aviation, Accommodation, Major & Business Events, Hospitality, Transport & Mobility, Attractions & Travel Operators.
- The position will provide valuable opportunities for the successful candidate to connect and work with member CEOs and senior executives, journalists, politicians, ministerial advisers and policy makers.
- The successful candidate will be guided by highly experienced policy, advocacy, and media professionals in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, helping to navigate policy issues that create outcomes for the industries we represent.
- The Policy and Research Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the policy & advocacy team in promoting the interests of the represented sectors. This will include involve analysing government legislation, inquiries, committees, ministerial announcements and member activity relevant to the tourism, transport and aviation sectors.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate capacity to articulate member interests within the current political environment to formulate submissions, ministerial correspondence, briefing notes, policy documents and research projects.
- The role will involve supporting the policy and communications team to build strong connections with stakeholders, assist with research projects and provide support for both reactive and proactive media messaging.
- For Sydney applicants, the role would include three days in the office and two days WFH. A fully remote position would be considered for the right candidate based elsewhere in Australia.
- Some interstate travel could be required to attend events and meetings hosted by TTF around Australia.
- Formal (tertiary) qualification in a relevant discipline such as arts, political science, tourism, economics or communications.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn new skills.
- Comprehensive research and analytical skills.
- Highly motivated and energetic individual that would like to build a career in an exciting industry.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team environment
