The NSW Government’s $750 million commitment to redevelop the Sydney Fish Market precinct is great news and the government should be applauded,” Tourism & Transport Chief Executive Margy Osmond said.

“This development will be a key part of an exciting new precinct for locals and visitors – what is not to love about the future fish markets.”

Sydney Fish Market is one of Sydney’s major tourist destinations, attracting three million visitors a year from local, domestic and international markets.

One in five international visitors visit Sydney Fish Market each year and they will now be treated to new public spaces a boardwalk and dining options.

This is also an economic win for the New South Wales towns up and down the coast who supply the seafood needs of the markets, locals and visitors alike.

“Todays’ announcement also reaffirms the suburb of Pyrmont as having a key role in the economic future of the city,” Ms Osmond said.
