INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS RETURNING TO NSW WILL HELP REIGNITE VISITOR ECONOMY

The Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF) has warmly welcomed the decision by the NSW Government to facilitate the limited and carefully managed return of some international students to the State, under a pilot program slated to begin in the second half of this year.

TTF Chief Executive Margy Osmond said the Government was to be congratulated on today’s announcement by NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet. It appropriately respects the health and safety priorities while at the same time provides a much-needed boost to the tourism and hospitality sectors in Sydney and across NSW.

“This decision to welcome back international students strikes the right balance between the health requirements and our economic recovery needs, as we continue to rebuild out of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Margy Osmond said today.

“This pilot scheme will provide a real kickstart for both NSW and Australia to open up further categories of travellers in a responsible manner as soon as circumstances allow.”
