FIRST STAGE OF TRANS-TASMAN TRAVEL A HUGE WIN FOR AUSTRALIAN TOURISM

TTF Australia CEO Margy Osmond has celebrated the Federal Government’s announcement that Stage One of a Trans-Tasman Bubble between New Zealand and two Australian jurisdictions, NSW and the NT, will open on October 16.

“TTF congratulates the Australian Government for progressing this hugely symbolic initiative for inbound travel from New Zealand into Australia which officially marks the beginning of the tourism led recovery out of COVID-19,” Margy Osmond said.

“TTF has been working very closely with airports, airlines and government day-in and day-out to turn this Trans-Tasman travel ambition into a reality.

“This initial stage, to later be expanded upon, will provide not just an economic boost to NSW and the Northern Territory but is also a massive morale boost to the country and the travelling public as a whole.

“Tourism, travel, accommodation and aviation businesses large and small will be rejoicing today at the prospect of New Zealand tourists, backpackers and business travellers returning to Sydney and Darwin and that we are firmly on track to further developments.

“Australians wanted us to make this happen with new Newgate Research today revealing that 68 per cent of us want to see international travel with New Zealand commence in the lead-up to Christmas.

Ends.
