Parramatta Road rejuvenation strategy ticks the right boxes for a dynamic city

The Tourism & Transport Forum Australia (TTF) has welcomed the release of the NSW Government’s Parramatta Road Strategy as a bold plan to transform a congested and run-down thoroughfare into an enticing boulevard of new residential, commercial and entertainment predicants for locals and visitors.

“Parramatta Road has been the main thoroughfare between the Sydney CBD, Parramatta and the greater west for generations and it has long deserved a bold strategy to transform it into a boulevard that supports vibrant communities,” said Margy Osmond, TTF CEO.

“The NSW Government and UrbanGrowthNSW should be congratulated on the strategy that they have delivered. It’s been an exhaustive process of consultation with the people of Sydney to make sure that this once in a lifetime opportunity to fundamentally change a key arterial road in our city is done right.

“The Strategy gets the balance right between supporting the building of thousands of new homes for our growing city as well as the need to provide the opportunity for business to create thousands of new jobs along Parramatta Road.

“With the completion of the WestConnex motorway, Parramatta Road will become a destination in its own right for people to live, work and enjoy themselves –great news for our visitor economy and encouragement for visitors to explore more of what Sydney has to offer outside of the CBD.”
